Where: Windmill Inn, 4250 N. Campbell Ave. (in St. Phillips Plaza); the southeast corner of River and Campbell.
What: This is a nice show where you don’t feel the harsh lights, noise, and pressure that prevail at some of the other shows, and you can dine at fine restaurants after you finish buying. A variety of exhibitors displaying hand-stitched bead bracelets, finished sterling silver and gem jewelry, lampwork, glass beads and decorations, vintage beads and findings, leather strands, German metal findings, natural stone bead strands, precious and semi-precious strands, Swarovski crystal, beading tools and supplies, scarves, pendants, ceramic and raku beads, magnetic and other designer clasps, fancy toggles and earwires, fiber, seed beads, and other to intricate handwoven baskets, seed beads, bead strands, sterling and Hill Tribe silver, and other unique items.
Inside
or Out: Inside the main lobby and various hotel rooms; don't forget to visit the second-floor rooms! (An elevator in the first-floor lobby helps, but stairs will also take you there.)
Tips: Don’t feel weird about going into the hotel rooms; that’s what they’re there for! Also, anticipate a small fee ($5) to enter if you don’t have a buyer’s license. In 2008, one buyer's license was good for you and one guest; any more guests, and you'll pay the fee.
Parking: Ample and paved, although slightly less ample than what might be expected because St. Phillip's Plaza cordons off quite a lot of parking, forcing all bead-show goers to the site's south side.
Food: You’re in St. Phillips Plaza, so there are several dining opportunities, including Vivace’s and Acacia.
Restrooms: Inside the hotel.
2011 show
dates: Only open 6 days beginning Wednesday, February 2nd through Monday, February 7th.
2011 Show hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Friday, when it remains open until 9:00 p.m.
