Where: 201 W. Lester (between Oracle & Stone) where the can't-miss-it hot air balloon is.
What: A nice showroom displaying gem stone table tops, gem stone tiles, crystal specimens, large and small ammonites, mineral bowls, boxes, bookends, carvings, flats of massage therapy tools, carved hearts, fetishes, simian skulls, and other gem material items from Madagascar, including blue calcite, septarian, apatite, orbicular (ocean) jasper, celestite (the mineral specimens are large, clear, and beautiful), and labradorite. Classical music played in the background, adding to this show's no-hurry atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and attended to us without knowing whether we were buying tons, one flat, or nothing. Their chief of mines was on hand to talk about excavation, production, and just about anything else gem-related. This buyer-oriented venue offers various discounts, including a 15% discount on purchases before 10:00 a.m. any day. (The photos on this page are from the showroom with permission.)
Inside or Out: Inside a clean, modest showroom and an outside tent.
Parking: Parking is easy on side streets since the Madagascar Minerals showroom is located in a sleepy residential area just off of Oracle on Lester.
Tip: Go to their website below--look along the right and scroll to the Tucson show and click for valuable coupons!
