(Looking directly south from Michigan Street; directly east of the Gem Mall.)
Where: 3300 E. Michigan Street, on the long walk between the Gem Mall and Holidome, in the "Lucky Gems" building, and the one attached to it (north side, see photo; Lucky Gems building directly south, and can't be seen in this photo).
2009 update: This show never had that many vendors, but they were a few shorter this year, just like all the shows.
What: This show has it tough being sandwiched between the much larger Gem Mall and Holidome shows, but it offers a large variety of natural stone bead strands and interesting styles, including carved and faceted. Many buyers may not want to make the stop if they're walking between the two larger shows, as that’s a considerable distance to walk. But if you catch a shuttle, or simply park in the lot, it’s definitely worth a peek. Arizona Bead Dog has made some good finds at this show. Prices are competitive. Its compact size makes it easy to visit, and while it carries mostly natural stone beads, you’ll also find sterling silver findings, a huge selection of velvet and bead-embroidered bags, pearls, stone carvings, gem bowls, finished jewelry, and other items. There are also some vendors outside in front of the building, but since it was raining when Arizona Bead Dog visited, those vendors were closed.
Inside or Out: Inside mostly.
Parking: There’s a very crowded lot directly south, but worth driving into to see if there's a space; if not, park at Gem Mall and get a shuttle.
Food: In 2009, Arizona Bead Dog noticed a hot dog vendor tucked away on the far east side of the property by a rug dealer's tent. The Gem Mall food court is just across the street, too.
Restrooms: On premises.
2011 show dates: Show runs from Saturday, January 29th through Sunday, February 13th.
Show hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for the last day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Shuttle routes: To be determined.
